i bet everyone is fed up of questions about wot size tyres to fit on a disco but i have read the guide and done a search but it dont answer the question i got .
my 200 tdi is standard and has got the 5 star alloys fitted ( dont know the proper name for them ) and i am running 235/70/16 s on there now but are on the limit and i have been offered a set of 265/75/16 bfgoodrich all terains part worn for £100 . what i want to know is , i only really use the car on road so do i need to be worried about the tyres fouling or is that only under articulation off road ? so can i get away with just fitting them without chopping bits of the body away ? its a 5 door by the way so that would make it harder to cut the rear arches :(
if anyone has fitted them without modifications id be grateful to hear
thanks

you tell that to my cousin when his 265s destroyed themselves on the arches
I've had three discos now with the same set of 265/75r16 BFG muds on. None have been destroyed yet. All of them have had stock suspension

Why put bigger tyres on if you're only gonna be using it on road... it'll mess up the torque of the engine and change the drivability of the car.

bigger tyres are for off road to give better clearance for the diff pan

hughesy you have cut off quiet a bit of your rear arches tho in that picture which wouldn't be so easy on a 5 door.

Darren I have a set of part worn goodyear allterrains 235/70 r16 if you are interested

That is true but I've had the same wheels and tyres on a 5 door which worked ok. I've cut a lot more than I needed to of this one just because I'd done it before and couldn't be bothered going back and trimming more off later if it needed it. IIRC it's the back of the rear arch that causes the problems and you can pretty much cut as much of as you like even on a 5 door.

just a quick update and i have fitted 3 x BFGoodrich A/T 's and 1 RUNWAY ENDURO A/T all at 265/75/16 today without needing to do any modifications or cuts to the body . i went slightly off road earlier and the tyres went most of the way up into the arches without catching so im more than happy with that . after a 50 mile drive today the only difference i have noticed is a very slight increase in tyre noise and the ride is a bit bouncier but on that plus side i no longer feel small bump in the road as the tyre soaks them up :) .
i will post pictures tonight
