series 3 2.25 petrol engine rattle

Got a tapping/rattling noise coming from distributor area, somebody said it could be sticking cam follower, is this possible?? anyone had this problem before??
 
guides wear and brass follower can become notchy ,rollers wear too,means taking head off to change them ,you can feel rockers when engine idling with cover off if your careful
 
is it running badly ? it would be a different noise to a rattle, though dizzy could have come apart under base plate etc but running would be effected
 
no its running fine, just a friend mentioned it could be that. foud a video on youtube of exactly same noise and someone else asking for advice/help and there were no comments! how annoying!
 
you need to get rocker cover off and check ,but could even be a rattling timing chain from what i could hear,either way i wouldnt run it
