As you know 2 weeks ago I bought some L322 Sport wheels & set about sourcing some nuts to fit em ..(P38 nuts Don't fit) heres what I've arrived at ......

There were 2 different L322 Sport alloys made 1 BEFORE 2006 & 1 After (THEY ARE BOTH IDENTICAL!!!)

The ones made BEFORE 2006 have 20mm holes in em

The ones made AFTER 2006 have 23MM holes in em

And you gotta get the CORRECT NUTS for the correct wheel Otherwise you'll get a slight Wheel Wobble (even though you will have fitted the Spigot rings) & EVENTUALLY yer nuts will WORK LOOSE

So BEST CASE..... You buy POST 2006 NUTS & have PRE 2006 wheels result = the nuts you just bought won't fit thru the holes & yer wasted yer money ...BUGGER!!!!

WORST CASE... You buy PRE 2006 nuts & have POST 2006 Wheels THEY FIT!! but yer nuts are too small for the holes Yer wheels wobble & loosen yer nuts .... & Yer wheels FALL OFF!!!!

The only reason I can come up with for LR Changin the Nut & Hole sizes is the 20MM nuts must have been "Too Weak" to take the battering on the larger 19 inch wheels

To see the 2 nuts Side by Side go here Alloy wheel nuts 2002 LM322 DISCOVERY RANGE ROVER on eBay (end time 13-Apr-10 14:07:01 BST)

When you see em together they are VERY different Same thread & length (14 X 1.5) but the "Newer Nut" has a much thicker shank.

Took me a week to get this into my head hope it helps anyone thinking of swopping their P38 wheels for L322's

Oh! the "Sport" alloys I'm talkin about look like this VVVVVVVVV

Now THERES AN IDEA!!!!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Sure you can find an engineering shop somewhere in Fleetwood to bore the smaller wheel, for £20.00 or so, if it has the meat to spare that is. Unless you have a 23mm drill buying one will cost about £60.00 plus you may need to have a 20mm lead ground onto it. Which you would need to do it by hand, unless you have a radial arm drill. So a home job could prove expensive. Specialy if you f**k one of the holes up.

Yeah and burning red diesel, no tax and possibly no insurance. Don't have to have an MOT. And all those sheep to go at, got it made they have.:D:D:D

They were changed at the 2006 upgrade to make them compatible with Discovery 3 & Range Rover Sport wheels.
