So, I got a great deal on a set of brand new MT tyres, 4 of them, never been on the road. They came mounted on Land Rover Disco wheels.
285/75/16.
I have other wheels I am going to use so I want them off.
I sent them to a professional tyre shop this morning to get them switched from the LR wheels to the new wheels.
They cannot get them off! Tried so hard that they BROKE a wheel !!!!!!:eek:

Any tips?

Wheel flat on the floor, short plank on to the tyre sidewall, drive defender onto plank, have a cup of tea and wait.

You sure they were professionals.?! It's not that difficult to break the bead. You can simply deflate the tyre and lie it flat on the ground and then drive your Landy up on the the sidewall of the wheel on the floor. Really not very difficult. :)

3 shops have now tried.

I have someone coming to get them, I told him to cut the fu#ker$ out with a torch as long as he does not damage the tires/tyres.

you could deflate them (completely) and then drive for a few metres, this will often pop them off the seat of the bead but you do risk damaging the tyre.

being new to fitting tyres at home using a machine (usually usinglevers sweat and tears. I had an old 15 inch Suzuki rim and na colway tyre today that wouldn't pop off its rim took 20 minutes with the bead breaker once it popped they looked to have been fitted with some sort of glue or something. I was told a particular type of washing powder melts the rubber and makes it stick to the rim. No idea if that's true or some old wivestale. All I know was the rubber was on the verge of tearing rather than popping off the rim

They got one tyre off yesterday, the guy said there was some sort of bead lock in the wheel.
These are LR Disco wheels, do they have bead locks or is some sort of add on thing?

I will take pictures as soon as I get them back.

I have still not seen the tyres but the guy on the phone said that all 4 tyres were ruined.
He says than can do some kind of patching and they may work, HA!

Ordering 4 new ones as soon as I confirm they are not useable.
I REALLY want to see one of the LR wheels.
unbelievable.

I will take pictures.

Thats not good. I wouldnt wanna run tires that have been damaged. What tires were they? The shops gonna compensate you?
