Before spending too much money on 'niceties' I would check the vehicle over thoroughly for the dreaded rust first, in all the usual places plus the not so usual places. So many people by these vehicles, get totally blown away with there road presence and off road agility, they then spend a mint on additional kit like winches, larger wheel, suspension lift kits, lights etc., and then find at the next MoT, it is virtually a scrapper, or the money would have been better spent on a MiG welder, a flash helmet and an angle grinder. Get crawling underneath with a good light first, have a good poke with a screwdriver, then decide what to do with yer grand. I hope you can still spend it on trimmings as opposed to tools.:)

i have a standard disco 1 300tdi matey with bf a/t tyres thats the only mod its got suspension wise, been to parkwood 4x4 centre and done manby offroad and bit offroading when going fishing never got the old girl stuck nor have i damaged her shes followed a range rover with 2 inch lift etc etc and it got stuck he was bit red faced when my girl went around and left her behind she goes through waiste deep water im 6ft 3 so deep what im trying to say is they dont need it really spend your money on general maintenance and looking after the metal work

Evening all!! Had my Disco (Disco 1 300tdi 3dr) about 6 months now, when i first got it i did the basics, service, EGR blank with a replacement pipe and then got myself a set of General Grabber AT2's. Since then it's been on the back burner and i've not done anything else with it...
Scenario is i've a grand to spend, what do i buy next?? I've been on the mail order 4x4 website and looked at there suspension packages, do i keep my standard wheel size and go for full suspension 2" lift kit with arms, cones, hoses the lot?? Are they any good?? or... Do i get some big tyres on modulars with a basic suspension lift?? If so which are best?? Also advise on snorkels, diff/steering guards etc would be appreciated!! If your wondering about how i use my disco i do a few lanes and frickley when i've the time... Many thanks... Will (Notts)

I think you should buy youself some new tyres and flog me your general grabbers for a tenner!!!! sounds like excellent advice to me!!!:D:D

you should have let him bodge it, then with the money he'd have to pay you to fix your disco you could buy some shiny new wheels. :D:D:D
