What colour is my Range Rover?

Java/Arabian Black is 697 or PNF.
Very subtle pearlescent (as in very small amounts of the pearl in the mix).

It will because you can use topcoat - shiny from the gun & doesn't need a clearcoat.
Main issue with black is that it shows absolutely everything & your prep work needs to be spot on.
Spraying outside a booth will result in lots of nibs (dust etc) & a lot of work with fine wet&dry & compounding mops.

you sound like youve got "previous" in these affairs.......

I had a bit of trial run last summer, spraying a few panels for my VW camper outdoors, in a field, and they came out good enough. I like a nice finish and ill always try to do the best I can with what I have available but ive no desire for absolute perfection.... this poor car has served me very well for the last decade and I think it deserves a freshen up.

My compressor is very underpowered though, do you have any recommendations before I go shopping for some new equiptment?

Also, the panels Ill be replacing are currently either Oxford blue or Balmoral green..... but they arent dented and they have no electrolysis, unlike every panel on the black one..... Would you go straight to black from those two colours, or not?

EAS compressor? Rebuild kits are cheap enough.
Look up wammers how to in tech section and/or story Wilson’s YouTube videos

workshop compressor, for spraying among other things.

no. I wouldn’t have said that. There isn’t a straight, un dented, scuffed scratched or blistered panel on that car. Even the roof is caved in a little after a willow tree dropped on it....... still seems to wear its age well though, don’t you think?

I SMART repair professionally. Although I'm semi-retired & do a lot more body repairs on caravans than cars now.

What kit have you got?

I am struggling to fully understand this.

it’s Black.
It may or not need a refresh.
It should be (from records) Green.
It looks black all over including engine bay and under carpets.
It’s a good paint job???

No confirmation of VIN,that would have been the first thing I would have gone to look at.
Yes it looks good and some colours are bad for fading and lacquer from peeling. But I have an issue with a full body respray that good (as you say) that you cannot see the original colour. Who strips down a RR to change a whole body change of colour that can’t be found somewhere?

there is something strange going on here, sorry.
