Give it a good clean with brake cleaner and fine wet/dry and check for cracks between valves and from glowplug and injector holes, did you undo the head bolts in sequence? If so you won't have damaged it when you removed it.

Good plan, that is the way to go!
My internet speed is so slow today I cant expand the pics to look, but like daz said you should be able to see any cracks in the face of the head, although it can break internally between galleries too. What were the symptoms that caused you to remove the head? Soz if I missed this but I thort the prob was with yous turbo??

lol head gasket went forcing oil out of other areas beer does not reach I hope,after a 30mile run i found very slight milking in the coolant of which i had to top up beforehand...turbo oil breathing could be from back pressure of hgf so will try it again when the gasket is replaced,if turbo has died again i will not be fitting another but goin 200Di.....fukin irony is i just replaced a starter motor so jobs keep comeing...

Pressure test dudes gunna get on with it tomoz when i drop it in...:)
No need for skimming to get it flat so 40 quids saved there and i needed a 1m metal ruler anyway...:D

its done over 30kmiles since the refit with a victor reinz head gasket..

on close inspection the head gasket has gone in various places and seems very poor quality.elring nest .

i cant id the thickness of the gasket so will have to fit 1.5mm elring to be safe.
 
got an issue there...the gasket i have removed needs to be identified...

Selecting the correct head gasket involves measuring the height of each piston above the block at TDC, and take the largest value. The manual says there are three available based on the piston protrusion :
1hole 0.50 - 0.60
2hole 0.61 - 0.70
3hole 0.71 - 0.80

No piston should protrude more than 0.80mm, but again doesn't say what to do if they do.

thats all very well if the gasket has holes in it:p:p:p so go and google that..
