uo416 fault, advise please

Hi All, My 2008 Rangy sport 66000 miles has seemed to developed a fault causing the car not to shift up through the gears, its fine for the first 5-10 miles. my friend plugged it into his diagnosis machine, it seemed to have a lot of faults which all cleared down bar uo416. the other faults were p140a, po578, p1935, p2299,uo421, c1a37, c1a38. To me this seems like a long list.
Could anyone make a recommendation where to start in trying to fix the issue. Its my wife car which she now won't drive because she feels unsafe & living in Cornwall without a car is a serious pain in the backside.

The above response (if it was indeed posted in there) is because it is used for those who are stuck and in need of urgent assistance - hence why he asks if you and the family are safe (i.e. not broken down on an unlit, country road) and the vehicle is secure if you need to leave it where it is for a while....

Anywho, U0416 seems to point to a comms error or invalid data received from dynamic control system - on the sport I have no idea where or what this is....on the L322 it is handled by the ABS system, on the Sport no clue.
