The battery on my P38 went flat last weekend when I was doing a bit of work on it. I had the lights on for a short while and the radio, nothing that I would have thought would drain it totally.
Just checked each of the 6 cells today and they are all empty, I would have thought I would have seen some De-Ionised water. Ive nerver had a a vehicle without a maintenance free sealed battery before so Im not sure if it can be topped up and how much water to put in, anyone help?

Topped up with de-ionised water, I'll recheck it again in a day or two, what sort of price is a new battery? Hopefully don't need one but need to prepare my wallet for the shock.

about £40 to £50 for a reasonable one from a motor factors. stay away from halfrauds.

Funnily enough I was in Halfrauds yesterday to get a bottle of DI water (1.49 per litre, should have just got some out of the DI plant at work) and I had a quick look at their prices, £90-£100! I can get most things at trade price through my father in-law but its amazing to see the mark up on some stuff.

DI water.; more snake oil. i reccomend and use plain old tap water. all this bollocks about using de-caf, de-eyeonised and distilled, decanted, defibulated and gamma ray sterilise water is all a load of poop.

back in the days of model t ford and austin 7's you had to be wary of putting any old water in yer battery but not these days.

in wur developed countries yer tap water is pure enough fer a battery.
batteries have a sediment trap like area at the bottom for any crud to gather, this ensures any crap that finds its way into yer battery will settle at the bottom and not short out yer cells.

last battery i bought was about ..fook nose! i can't remember back that far but i do know it was dry charged and all i did was filled it up with tap water and gave it a couple of hours on the charger. and it never let me down
