I've just purchased a lovely 1.8 Kalahari in silver. Drove it for an hour home - no problems. Just popped out for some take away and parked up and there's a ticking noise coming from under the car. It doesn't sound like it's going to stop! Any ideas??
I've tried starting the car again and stopping it - that didn't solve it!
Help!

Could be a crocodile, have ya bin to neverland recent. . .:D

OK it appears to have stopped now. I did check it in between and I think the speed of the ticking slowed down...it's clearly coming from under the car... it could be coming from the exhaust looking thing running through the middle of the bottom of the car...does that help?!

Well it's stopped, but I'd liked to have known what it was! Has nobody had the problem before?

I have the same phenomena, regularly - not always, when I stop the car I hear a 'regular' ticking noise (same rhytm/speed I mean) under the bonnet, it is like a springloaded thing that winds off and finally stops. Before stopping the engine I can hear when that ticking is taking place, already tried, while engine still running, to locate it but no luck, thought it comes somewhere from around the place where the EGR valve is but with that extra engine cover on I can't get anywhere.

Ahh no the car is stationary when the ticking is happening. It lasted for about 15 minutes!!

No, with me the unwinding takes about 5 seconds and it stops, it is also not A/C related (as i first thought) or so as it happens at random with or without the A/C on.

is it a fault that its ticking when I stop the car - I thought it might be normal, but it seems nobody else has this problem!!
