Disco 2 That Old One...Discovery 2 Imoboliser

Hi All

Purchased a 2000 Discovery 2 back in May this year, with a known immobilizer issue.

Since then, the following has taken place to try and solve the issue:

· · Replacement BCU, ECU sent away to be linked with new BCU and Keys – cannot open though using key fob, although LED is flashing so presume sending signal. Everything seems to work as it should except car will not start. Therefore…

· · Key Receiver in headlining replaced and relocated to prevent damp problems, wire earthling casing in new location.

None of this has seemed to work having got the new key receiver through today. The light on the immobilizer has also stopped flashing it appears on the dash since I last connected the battery, so wondering if its an issue there, but basically running out of ideas in regards to what I could be...

Hi, the fact that the red LED is not coming on at all is not OK, as long as that LED does nothing and the fob does nothing you are stuck... find somebody with nanocom to help you cos without checking the BCU settings in situ the whole thing is just a guessing game... i have serious doubts that the guys who worked on this made a good job, did they provide you the EKA code for the replacement BCU? if not they are not serious... scroll up on that map https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewe...73196309&z=9&mid=1PmbphOvO47RAsn1ZdQFDD-ed-zo and click on the nearest sign, you can contact then the man through theD2boysclub

Thanks for your reply - I'll check the supplied paperwork tomorrow to see if there is anything obvious but if not I may call on your help to see if its identifiable from what I have.

You'll need nanocom anyway i'm affraid, though are you sure that all the interior fuses are OK including the fusebox? cos that might have been the issue from the beginning if previously you've got reaction from the fob but not from the door locks. btw i edited my first post.

The photos are the documents provided with the "new" BCU along with the return of the keys and the ECU... don't know if you can find any info from this as to the man in the street it's codes and tick boxes...

Yes, the EKA code is as Griff said and the rest of settings are OK so if you watch the settings the alarm/ immobiliser is disabled completely so your problem is not with the immobisiler and in this case the LED is normal to rest though the ALARM setting should be 'Not fitted"... remove the starter relay R2 and make a bridge with a wire across the perpendicular cavities in the fusebox, if it doesnt crank the problem is on the starter circuit, the solenoid connector used to get loose quite often or it can be the ignition switch or something but i'm quite confident that it's not an immobiliser issue... being manual try to bump start it cos it should run and the central locking is something coincidental, would be good to rule out the interior fusebox, one removed from non-facelift vehicle is needed, the used good ones are not expensive
