I've owned my Disco for nearly 8 years now. The tailgate hinges had worn and dropped before I owned it. Finally changed the top and bottom hinges today (D2 ones). The trouble is that the high lift Jack moved at the wrong moment, so door is dragging on rear bumper and harder to close than before. Does anyone know how to adjust the rear door to stop it dragging / make easier to close? Cheers.

Undo bolts in either door hinge (door side, not frame, top is probably the culprit) have an assistant lift up door, tighten bolts. Try door, Repeat as necessary.

Tried your advice Discokids, tried lifting the door as high as it'll go, still can't shut door properly. Should I take the door checkstrap thing off? The circlip on it is well rusted, I think it'll break! At least the new hinges don't squeak like the old ones, lost a few decibels during journeys now.

Did you get to the bottom of this ? Was it the hinges that where the problem?
Thanks

But won't you miss getting burnt and breathing in 25 years of paint, seam sealers and underseal?
