Sorry for what is probably a repost of many times but the search is returning an error.

I am trying to replace the rear air bags. I have removed the top and bottom pins plus the air I to the bag. The bottom of the bag has come away without any problem but the top refuses to budge an inch. The whole of the pin is out as I checked it against the new pin. I have tried to force it out by pushing a crow bar over the top between the bag and the body but no use.

Any ideas how to shift it?

I have had to actually use a hammer and chisel to split the plastic taking it out in bits after first cutting the bag away. Then it was a big de-rusting job.
 
get a long prybar in there. you'll pull up like your going to dead lift at the olympics, there will be a bang as it separates and scare the cr.ap out of you. its had a fair weight pressing on it through all weather for a long time.. just needs some persuasion
 
Tried attaching a ratchet strap to the bottom and hitting the top but with no luck. My crowbar slides over the top of the air inlet after hitting it with a hammer a few times but may try a thicker bar before chiseling it out.

I do feel like Nevil Longbottom in Harry Potter when I try to do any work on my Range. 'Why does it always happen to me!'

Everyone thinks they're unique; just like everyone else. These cars are designed to test you to the limit at every opportunity. Look at Saint with that head bolt. Or that mechanic defeated by the clutch who threw the towel in and sold the car.

Managed to finally shift it. Bought a great big cold chisel which was wide enough to put enough pressure on it. A quick prise with the crowbar then shifted it. Cleaned area and gave it a quick spray with hammerite to stop it happening again.
 
I have the airbag in place with the clips secured. The bag however is a little creased. Is it OK to start to partially inflate the bag while axle is still dangling to force the bag into shape. I seem to have it in my head that it cannot be creased but cannot see how without a bit of pressure in it.
