Some delightful people have decided to part me from my beloved defender on the night of then 22nd / 23rd Jan 2011 between the hours of 15:00 and 10:30 the next day. The landrover was parked 50yrd from my house in Lodge Road, Writtle nr Chelmsford - Essex. The number Plate was M149 BDE, She was red truck cab with and Ifor william canopy on the back with a rear door with a window not a grill. Any one with any information please message me, I understand that this is not uncommon these days but it doesnt stop me being very very sad and VERY ANGRY!

Please keep your eyes peeled and maybe consider upgrading your security.......

Sorry to hear of yet another landy going missing.

Just so people know what security items do and don't seem to work or deter theives can you tell us what additional security you had fitted (other than the standard alarm/immobiliser)? Cheers

No standard alarm or immobiliser on a '94 and the door locks can be opened by a 7 year old with a lolly stick. The steering lock seems to consist of a piece of cheese that interferes with steering operation up to the point the steering wheel is actually moved. The lesson is if you have an old (or even new) Landy get some extra security. To the OP, gutted for you mate I've had two nicked and I know how you are feeling.

Immobilisers were an option pre-1995 and law from 1995 on.

edit: I was under the impression it was all cars N reg (1995) onwards but according to the interweb it's 1998 onwards. I still personally think it was 1995

I'm trying to find out how many vehicles with added security such as disclocks etc are stolen compared to those stolen without any extra security.

Hiya, thanks for your words of sympathy, dont think most people understand how upsetting it is to loose what is nearly a family member!!!

There has been a possible sighting so all my fingers and toes crossed!!!

There was no additional security on it I ashamed to say but in my neighbourhood it is very shocking to have it stolen.

Should I get it back (am praying) or get a replacement, security will be top of my to do list, I am going to get a tracker fitted, they seem expensive but the success rate of recovery makes it seem cheap for the heart ache I have been feeling.

will keep yall posted.

Peace out

Is this your truck?
LANDROVER 90 DEFENDER (TAXED & TESTED) on eBay (end time 28-Feb-11 10:38:24 GMT)

Its been posted up at www.landywatch.co.uk and looks identical to yours. Even got the damage to the front wing...
Freshly painted too.

Look damn similar! Same dent too, if not "yours" is it made of bits of yours, they swap bits round to make them look different.

its possible if you look at the ifor williams the sticker has been removed but if you look at the passenger side photo it has something in line with the sticker further back but if you look the fresh painted one has a 300 wing drivers side an td5 indicators also the window brackets are the old style an the 300 m reg 1 had body sliders so if he was going to fill the holes he would have probably filled the wing as well the rear chequer plate looks the same size also look at the gap round the passenger door its a hard one to call but if it was mine i would be going round for a look as there both from the same place so you don't have to go far to look
