I in Kuwait. Ihave a 96 range rover and need to change the starter but can,t find the socket needed to remove the exhaust

are you sure you need to remove the exhaust?? get the top one from above (think they are allen key sockets) and bottom one from beneath, thats how i do it i think.

the exhaust is just standard sockets, on mine at least.

As Gav says...no need to touch the exhaust. You need a 6mm allen key for the two starter bolts and a couple of long extension bars (1/2" sq. drive). Have a look on RAVE, it gives the lowdown on how to do it.
The top bolt is a pig because you are working blind, but undo and remove that first, otherwise if you remove the bottom first the weight of the motor will be hanging of the top one and make the top one a bit more of a lengthy job.

thanks guys it worked out good. The bolts for my manifold are the smae on the valve covers. they look like star bolts they have more than 12 grooves

Halfords have a full set of ratcheting C spanners on half price sale at the moment.
These are the business for taking off the starter. You just cut the appropriate allen key to length and both bolts can easily be taken off from underneath, 15 minute job.
