Excuse my ignorance but are the switches that show where the heater controls should blow part of the HEVAC unit and should they be illuminated when the Rangies lights are on.

Hi,

On my 93 RR the background eluminates when the lights are on, but the sliding controls or switches do not. Hope that helps

When you say the bits that show where it should blow, do you mean the actual buttons or the light indicating where its blowing??

Everything lights up on the HeVAC panel when the lights are on, all the little icons on the button will glow green and when a button is pressed it will light up the little orange LED either above or below it (with the exception of the AUTO button which has no LED indicator).

So which arent working, the green ones or the orange ones??

The buttons that indicate where the blower should be blowing That is to say the ones that have the symbols of seats with arrows large and small. When it is dark there are none of these illuminated. When a switch is pressed they do show a orange light.

Oh, ok, one of your bulbs has blown in the HeVAC panel then.

They are pretty straight forward to replace and shouldnt take you more than an hour or so if you have never done it before. The hardest part of the whole operation is taking the centre console side panels off.

See LCD Backlight Repair for a more in detail explanation.

You will need...

1 x STC3869 - Bulb for LCD
3 x STC3868 - Bulbs for lighting up the buttons (one of these will have blown)
1 x RTC3635 - Bulb for lighting up the dial and the right hand buttons.

I would order an extra bulb of each just incase one doesnt work when you get it. The whole lot is only a few quid from the dealer and as said, easy to do, although saying that be EXTRA careful when doing the centre dial bulb, you dont want to break the dial as you remove it. If you dont feel comfortable with pulling the dial out, disassembling the HeVAC panel itself is very straight forward and as long as you do it in a clean static free(ish) area it is only a few screws, might take a little longer and you have to be a little more careful but its well worth it so you dont break the little tab things.

Good luck

-Wills :)
