Suppose it's hard to determine which ones more effective then, what if you had front left wheel and back right wheel both lift off the ground at the same time, wouldn't that grind you to a halt on a standard centre diff lock. Where as traction control would send power to the other wheels and get you going again. Not being arrogant at all it's just that I have seen standard discos with standard diff lock behave in this manner, and the wheels spin out on a cross Axel. Driver has to give it some **** to get some momentum to get over.

Yep, 100% right.... and when giving it some 'Beans' for a bit of momentum with just the CDL you are most at risk of breaking/damaging something / Diffs/Half shafts etc. TC you can do it alot more controlled and much less likely to 'Break' something.

In that situation TC is better IMO...... but across a muddy field/sand soft surfaces etc TC will allow a wheel to 'Spin' before the TC reacts and your possibly digging yourself INTO the sh!ts and it's too late..... Prior to having the CDL fitted I nearly got stuck on a beach in those circumstances a CDL would have been alot better.

Horses for courses! :)

If you have your steering lock stops in too far you can lock the spinning wheel against the radius arm and gain traction that way.;)

So there we have it, both great in their own ways in different situations. So may get a locker installed on my disco. Will be the mutts nutts then. Cheers for your replies chaps & gals if any.
