Hi All

Plan to replace the brake servo on my 1995 300tdi this week.

Can anyone offer any tips on how to do this?

Am i correct in saying....

1.Remove bolts connecting master cylinder to servo. Gently pry away from servo

2.Remove bungs in pedal box, and take out Clevis pin.

3.Undo bolts connecting servo to pedal box and remove servo.

Or would i be better removing the pedal box? And is there any seals i need to buy? Ive bought a OEM TRW brake servo but im not sure if this comes with any seals of gaskets that i need?

Any help and advise welcomed!

i did mine yesterday. I had never replaced a servo before and it took 20 minutes.

Hardest thing was getting the old split pin off from the pin attached the servo to the pedal lever.

There should be an o ring about 40mm (ish) in diameter which sits between the master cylinder and the servo.

yeh you're right with the way you describe ,,like vilguy said 20 mins of a job inc fag n brew lol

Thanks guys. Do i need to buy a new O ring for between the servo and master?

Also is there a seal between the servo and pedal box that will need replacing? I want to make sure ive got everything to do the job in one go

did a new o ring not come with the servo replacement you bought? If not, you should get one. Yourll be cheesed if you fit it to find that a cheap £1 o ring means you have to do it all again.

You CANNOT omit this seal by the way.

No other seals needed. Have a spare split pin (or R clip if you prefer) for the retainment of the clevis pin.

Thanks for the reply. I havent received the servo through the post yet. Just wanted to get a seal if i needed one so can fit it all at once as you say

its not a special seal, its just an O ring. tuppence :)

I have a massive box of o rings which I have for just such occasions.

I got a cheap un off ebay.

The picture of the unit from tim fry shows the afformentioned O Ring is included.

So you are sorted :)
