Quick EAS question (to aid my understanding)

Are all the bags connected? So if you have a leak in one, will all 4 corners go down overnight? Or are they separate so that if you have a leak in one, only one goes down?

I am due to replace my bags as I'm approaching 100k and I don't think they've been done (I have Datatek's guide ready). But overnight, mine does sink 2 or 3 inches - but equally on all 4 corners.

So, could that be bags or should I refurb the compressor and valves etc with a kit?

It depends how big the leak is. All bags are separate. However every six hours or so the EAS wakes up, if a corner has dropped it attempts to drop the other side to level the car, it does this for 20 seconds each time. So if you arse end is on the bump stop every morning you have a leak in one or both bags. Likewise with the fronts. Acceptable level of drop over a 24 hour period is 15 mm.
 
The last few mornings the car has been in access mode when I start it up. It raises up quickly when started and there are no errors. However, today I used it and parked it up for an hour or so and when I came back to it, it was in access mode again and as I started it, all 4 corners raised. I had been going to the tip so there was some weight in it *and* I did park half on, half off the pavement which might have confused it :)

If it drops that quickly, where would you look for the leak as it wouldn't be a bag as it wouldn't have had time to level out would it and it drops evenly on all 4 corners?

I'm going to do the bags anyway when I get chance.

If having replaced the bags (which is easy by the way, especially with the diesel) it still drops, make up a spray gun of soapy water and check all the air lines and so on to check for any leaks. However the fault is almost certainly with the bags so replacing them with shiny new ones should fix everything :)
(at least I hope so... I'm about to do it :p )

As Wammers said, unless the leak is serious, a leak on one corner will result in all four corners going down as it self levels.
If the leak is serious, it can drop one corner.
I would bet on it being the airbags, the leaks open and close where the bags fold under so the rate of drop is variable.
A valve block overhaul is also worth while, mine drops less than 15mm in a week since I overhauled everything:D
 
Nik, under the passenger seat is the delay timer. Get her up to extended-ride height and then open the drivers door and stop the engine. Reach under the passenger seat and pull out the delay timer relay. Lock up. In the morning you'll see which corner(s) have dropped.

It probably is the airbag(s) but if it isn't then you need to check out Wammers how to about trouble-shooting the valve block. Symlisep38parts on ebay does a line and straight sonnector and also some car tyre adapters. With that you can inflate the bags without going through the valve-block thus eliminating that from the trouble-shooting.

I've just done the rear bags : had some probs...details don't matter for the moment. Also fitted new compressor. Still probs : followed wammers advice and replaced exhaust diaphragm in the valve block (2-3 hours of clean work) :probs gone : if I was you on the symptoms I have read I would be heading for the exhaust diaphragm before the bags but they maybe all need to be done anyway.
 
Might be the bags :)

I'll have a look at the exhaust diaphram too. Is it this? if not, I'll see if I can find the parts on ebay. Tnx for the suggestions and Happy Christmas to one and all.
