I have a 1982 range Rover.V8 3.5 ltr estate 4dr. Petrol. One of the early square styles. Manual.
Brought it in 1986 and so I have owned it 21yrs as our only car.
The engine etc is sound, the body work needs a little work and the interior is poor. it gets through the MOT every year with little to do. This year just had a new seal in the power steering. Has 6months left on MOT and 10 months tax.
I am thinking about getting a newer one that is in better shape inside plus it will have rear seat belts for the grand kids.
Two questions about it, should I sell it as it is or offer it for spares? How much should I look to get for it as a going concern?
I am looking at a 1992 Brookland edition that is very clean and low mileage. How much is the going rate for that?
Thanks.

il go £10..............

i would keep it, buy another but keep that one, have some off road fun maybe?

A Rangy that age personally I wouldn’t expect to sell for more than about £500.
A 1992 model again personally I wouldn’t pay more than £2000 and for that money I would expect a tide vehicle

Well that’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it, I have 25 years of experience on Range Rovers, I have bought and sold them, I have done petrol to diesel conversions and countless repairs, so I think I am more than qualified to comment

I dont doubt your expertise at repairing landys but you only have to check out the link to autotrader that I posted to see that you can get 91/92 and newer RR for a lot less than 2k. The bottom has fallen out of the used 4x4 market at the moment and people are almost giving them away.

As I said unless it was a fully specced top of the range model I wouldn't pay 2k for a 92 RR and judging by the cars that are out there neither would anyone else. Except you apparently.

My comments were (I wouldn’t pay more than £2000 and for that money I would expect a tide vehicle) this answer gives the person asking the question a top price I would consider fair if the vehicle were in top condition, my answer does not say buy a car for £2000

So who said you did. I said "I wouldn't pay 2k for a 92 RR unless it was top of the range and had all the whistles and bells". So as we seem to agree you can get down off your soapbox now.

ffs this turnips come in with the "i've bin fixing and bodging range rovers for 300 fifty years so i know more than you do" remarks and accuses pikey of being condescending

I thought I'd made a reasonable comment about what I'd expect for 2K but it seems some people think theirs is the only opinion your allowed to express.

Problem nowadays is people want to talk the price up cos they don't like to think there pride and joy INT WORTH ****E.
