Hi guys
On Saturday just gone i replaced my noisy power steer pump ( 2.5td-defender 200tdi ) anyway i bled the system as discribed in the haynes bible but whilst bleeding it i soon realised i didn't have enough oil with only 2.3ish ltrs of fluid put in and still had loads of air coming out of the bleed nipple so switch off engine and walked over to my local motorist shop for another couple of ltrs of ATF fluid, must have been away no more than 15-20 mins came back started the engine ( still hot ) topped up the power steer oil and undid the bleed nipple and let it run for a couple of sec's and nothing but pure fluid came out with no bubbles retightend the nipple topped up the fluid again and everything seemed ok.
anyway as i work Sundays and son uses the landy for work he checks the levels every Sunday and noticed the power steer fluid was low and no leaks so he topped up the fluid and went out in the landy only to find at some point a few drips of ATF on the floor opened the bonnet and found fluid coming out of the top of the fluid resorvier.
does this sound like there is still air in the system as i am off tomorrow and son can't go to work so we will both give it a bleed and see how we get on.
what do you think
