Power Loss

Don't know if anyone can help, driving home from work today was unable to accelerate above 30 in 3rd, 50 in 4th and 60 in 5th gear, no lights came on until I stopped and restarted, then intermittent amber light flashes on and off which I cannot identify, also the check engine light, the one on the right, flashes
on and off, can only equate it to a flat spot on a petrol carb or a limiter. Car is 2005 Freelander td4 hse.

Not broken down but cant get it looked at until Monday, still got to use it for the next 4 days and was wondering if it is anything I can look at myself, not too sure if its ok to use as manual I got with the car isn't for my model so gives no explanation.

Sounds like the low pressure fuel pump isn't supplying enough pressure. When was the fuel filter replaced last?
Can you hear the fuel pump under the RH rear arch running when the ignition is switched on?

Just spoke to the guy who normally does the service, apparently he didn't know about that , so on that assumption i would say it's been 3 years, needless to say hee wont be seeing it again.

Thanks for the reply, think you could be right there, it's being plugged into the computer later, hope it is just that.

Sorry, yes, can hear pump running 90% of the time the car is in use.

If you can hear the pump running from inside, then it's probably just about to fail. A good quality working pump is almost silent.

Viewing the live data while driving the car will show you the problem. The low and high pressure pumps output is available on the live data stream. You just need to have access to a suitable reader or Bluetooth dongle and smartphone app.

Got it to garage and the pump died, god only knows how much it's going to cost, getting him to do a full service, might as well as he's changing pump and fuel filter, will look into reader and app, could be handy for the future.

Make sure the garage fit an OE pump. Cheap pumps are noisy and fail very quickly.
Also make sure the crankcase breather is changed at the service. And if you can stretch to it. Get the inlet manifold cleaned out at the same time.

I know this guy is very particular when fitting parts, have heard some real horror stories from him about other Freelanders he's done, wrong fillters hammered into place etc and a pain to get out. Will ask him to check everything you have suggested, many thanks for your help and advice.
