As you will have gathered i like to try it myself first just in case i can save a few quid . I had a few smallish blister spots which i rubbed down and found no rust just white powder - presumably from the galvanised steel painted as per the instructions- problem cant get the clear coat to shine any ideas anyone thanks again

It would help it you were to be a bit more explicit ie. vehicle /panel.

its a 1998 4.6 hse and its both doors at the bottom where the trim is - i have taken the trim of and it is in remarkabley good condition apart from a couple of blisters

I think you'll find that we are talking about an ali door skin.(white powder -oxidation-being the clue)I take it that you've done a good job of preparation prior to paint application ,etch primer etc.I can only assume that you have used the right paint, ie as per manufacturers paint code . Is the paint finish metalic? If you applied the base coat which incidentally dries to a somewhat matt finish have you the applied a couple of coats of clear lacquer?

metallic paint has to be just very sightly "knocked off" the top then as the man said ^^^ a couple of coats of clear lacquer, if you don't knock it off you wont get the metallic effect as good, same for flip paints
