P38 suspension fault codes

hi mate got fault on mine too just had brand new dunlop bags fitted had eas fault before fitting and after al lthe lights on and height maxed out but the pump in the plastic box in the engine bay was red hot i actually burned my hand on it ,, so ,, do you think it is the pump knackered or this thermal overload , if overload can you replace it or is it a new pump job ~??? cheers

The thermal overload switch is in the back end of the compressor, if you can solder then not a problem, best done with a small butane torch and silver solder though. I would suggest that you have other issues that need to be addressed first if the lights are all on and the pump is running.

The pump does get very hot when running, too hot to touch in fact. If it is cycling on and off regulary then I wouldn't be worried, unless of course it is running non stop for say 5 minutes.
 
Just tried this 10 times and still no good.... Surely the fact that they won't clear says something about the suspension system's condition?
have you got 'good idle'? me mates connected via 2 ports, port 3 'good idle' flashed on and off and obviously s/w didnt do as it shud, port 4 'good idle' was constant and cleared faults no more probs.

I just thought of something.... The cable I have been using is an OBDII cable.

Yes it's different I think. I made my own. From the examples given. Worked a treat. But if I look at the codes with the engine running, I get loads of faults. With the engine in ignition mode, faults are clear. This could be my USB-serial converter I think, based on other replies
