Hi there, I have a 95 P38 DSE.
For the past month I have been having problems with the suspension raising.
After looking through this great site I decided to change the seal on the air pump. Indeed it was shot and needed replacing.
This did not cure things though.
Using ES UN-LOCK suit I tested for faults. None apart from "vehicle has moved"
First I switched the pump on, after a minuet I switched it self off as it was up to pressure.
Next I depressurised the air springs and then disconnected the air pipes from the outside of the valve block. I operated each valve from the laptop. Air came out from each one in turn.
Re-connecting them I then inflate them manually. They come up just to take the weight of the bump stops and then hardly move if at all.
I inflated each air spring using an air line and tee pieces to raise the springs to normal hight.
Again I tried to raise using the laptop, all the solenoids clicked but no movement.
If I click to go down, each one operates as it should. Lowering around 10-15mm per click.

Does anyone have any ideas with this please?
(sorry for the lengthy description)
Ian

Compressor Inlet or exhaust filters blocked, reed valves in the compressor leaking, your replacement seal has not fixed the pump and it is not producing enough pressure. Maybe the cylinder is worn.

Sounds like a pressure problem. I've found that plumbing in a simple pressure gauge into the system is a great help to see what's going on. You should have about 110 -160 psi in a healthy system, mine typicaly runs at 130. I would also recomend getting a valve block overhaul kit. A realy simple job to do, if you do one valve at a time to save confusion. You may have a leaking one way valve or dicky pressure switch.

Thanks.
Should the compressor seal and the liner be a tight fit?
Mine is not. I just assumed that as it ran the flange on the seal would open up to make a good seal.
I am going to clean up the read valves in the compressor head and replace the O ring.
Lets see what happens then.
Stupid question maybe, but how do I go about checking the main reservoir air pressure?

Thanks again.... Ian

Think I have fathomed it thanks to you guys.
Although there was plenty of air coming out of the compressor when I covered the outlet with a piece of polythene and my thumb no pressure built up and the motor did not change tone.
The non return reeds were checked and cleaned so I am putting it down to a warn compressor liner.
I will just have to source a liner and new seal.
Thank you to all that helped me.

Look on Ebay for the Dutch company doing upgraded compressor seals:D
