My turn to resurrect this thread ;)
Removing the intercooler to access the oil cooler seems OK from the manual, I can't see anything on removing the oil cooler pipes from the engine end though, looks like the disappear under the oil filter, is it much of a job at that end?

Thanks for any info!

No trouble just one fastener holding a pinch plate. Make sure everything is lined up before tightening.

A mate of mine works in a boat yard and as mentioned earlier in the thread they see a lot of electrolysis between aluminium fastened with steel. They use a jointing paste called Duralac "a free flowing paste based on a synthetic elastic resin and barium chromate" to suppress the reaction on reassembly. Found it on Amazon for 13 quid for 115 ml tube, which my buddy says will last me a lifetime... just as well!

I wrapped plumbers steam tape round what was left of my threads ,tightened the nut over the top.,but that was on the gearbox cooler same thing, like you said its a press fit on a rubber ring :D;)

Just a thought... would Teflon tape ( or plumbers tape) solve this over the threaded end? I know some mettle to mettle contact will happen, but not so much
