Hi All,
I own a 1995 Diesel P38, had a lot of issues when I bought it, managed to fix a few but have an issue with dash lights.

I dimmed the dashboard lights and they suddenly all went off, still got warning/check lights etc. But speedo, radio and suspension lights do not light up when head/sidelights are switched on. Fuse was ok. Installed replacement indicator stalk (wiring damaged inside). Still dash board does not illuminate.

I took instrument cluster out and checked all the bulbs, were fine. Not sure if there is another relay device or something like that located elsewhere.

I am at a loss here. Can anyone help please?

If the dimmer control or the wiring to it has failed, that might be the problem especially as it happened when you dimmed the lights.

Thanks for replying. The dimmer switch when I took the stalk off smelt burnt out so put a new stalk on, tried dimmer still no lights.

Could be a wiring fault from stalk connector to Bcom unit?

New stalk or secondhand? Connection to stalk good? Unlikely to be a wring fault IMO but corrosion on the BECM connectors is a possible problem. Need to look at the wiring diagrams in RAVE.

Second Hand it worked on my dad's p38 before plugged it in mine.

Where is BECM? Is the RAVE that free off workshop manual?

Ok thanks got that and got image of wiring diagram below. Is the port number the C256 on the becm?

Remove the drivers side kick panel & take a look at the two white multi connectors hidden behind that panel.
When these fur up or corrode they do all sorts of funny things to the binnacle.

Ok thanks for that will have a look under there, must be a iffy connection.

Had same issue with rear height sensor.

UPDATE - The white connectors as mentioned were furred up, cleaned them, now dashboard lights are working, thanks for the advice.

However the speakers on the drivers door have started making a buzzing with radio on or off, they also worked on and off, are they in the same multi-lug connectors or run on a separate circuit? I assume it doesn't run through the BECM?

If you can advise, thanks,
