HI All,
Need to change the hub as bearing on the way out and I have a good spare. I found over the weekend that I cannot break the lock on the hub nut using a long bar, I don't have an impact gun but thinking of getting one. Has anyone else had trouble getting these off?

Hi Brian,
It was an extended one with scaffold bar on it. Two of us tried it and gave up as didnt want to cause damage without first putting it out in the forum!!

Depends on how heavy the people are on the end of the bar!

I have no trouble with my 15st bulk hanging off the end like a gorilla!

Try jumping on the pipe!

Yes, it is a f*cker. Take it to the local indy and get them to whizz it off, tighten enough to get home. When you've reassembled take it back and get them to hammer up.

250NM IIRC.

I went to a local garage so used their 'big berths impact gun. Gave them a tenner for the drink fund they would it up to 100NM for the short hop home. did it all back up and went round again for them to wind it back up to 250NM.

Well Hub now changed, brute force and ignorance and an extra long scaffold bar and plenty of plus gas to soak in!! Bearing was deff kur-knackered!!! Now just axle oil seal to do which I forgot to order. Anyone have the oil seal installation tool or what do you use instead???

Don't remember needing any tool!

watched a youtube clip of someone replacing the seal and it was attached to this tool. I'm sure it's as easy as I think it is a long as it's not forced on I can't see a problem. I'm just miffed I forgot to order it before I needed to change the hub, but the hub and bearing just couldn't wait!
