I had my windscreen re-fitted due to a perished rubber , after i noticed a couple of light scratches , looks like someone wiped the window with rings on ? , they are not bad and hard to notice so the so the screen is ok really . But its leaking so the fitter is coming back out to re-re-fit and ive decided to replace the screen as its coming out anyway , OCD , . Is it worth saving is the question . I deal for an off roader , or everyday use there's no chips as i can see . Thoughts anyone .

Bit OTT to replace the glass if it's that minor, but if it makes you happy then it's right :)
I would keep it safe, so when a stone takes a big chunk out of the new shiny one (Sod's Law) at least it wont be so heartbreaking because you have a spare.

Don't bother, just make sure you have windscreen cover on your policy unless you have an abundance of space that needs filled with old tat? If a fitter has to come out to fit it then you might as well have them fit a new screen, they will never be hard to get hold of and if by some miracle car glass fitters stop fitting them then you can get a plant glazing firm to come and fit a laminated screen for you.

IMHO waste of space and effort.

All well and good if you can fit it yourself but totally pointless if you are having to call out a windscreen company to fit it for you, they might as fit a new one and as above in my other post, if by some miracle car glass fitters stop fitting them then you can get a plant glazing firm to come and fit a laminated screen for you.

Being on my 4th windscreen now in 5 years I would say, it’s far less hassle to just get a new one and let a fitter fit it for you. They can do it in half the time.

Sell it on eBay, someone will want it.

Are you having a 5 year spell of bad luck

That's a varied choice of opinions , I am been a bit stupid changing it really as it is not that bad , But as its coming back out (leaking) i thought i would change it . History is 1st time i just had a new rubber only a month ago , then spotted a couple of light scratches . So as he has to come back under warranty (leaking) i got a good price on a new screen with him pulling it out anyway . Well Save it ? mmmm . well i have to much crap , but knowing me i will save it put on ebay (unless someone on the forum wants it cheap) , then most likely it will get binned in 10 years . i still have a rear door i got 7 years ago for my last defender and sold 6 years ago lol . But as said my screen is insured , if it gets bust and i would not put it back in anyway .

I broke mine during refitting after changing a perished rubber, was rushing a bit getting cold and dark, new screen was cheaper than my excess. Old one was a bit scratched and had a bit of water ingress in bottom corner, but was hoping to get it back in though cos I wanted to fit heated in the future (when funds and time allow)
