old question revisited

hi all

i have a freelander 2002 td4 ,it hhas no vcu on it right now
it has 15 inch wheels and the tyres on the back need changing :-(

i no because of the 4 x 4 you should change tyres all at the same time and for same size

but because its not in 4x4 and will not be for quite a while can i

1. just change the back 2
2. change from the 195,80,15 to a more popular /cheaper size antill i put it back into 4x4

or will it still damage the dif ?

Once the VCU is removed, you can put whatever size tyre wherever you like. The diff will just freewheel.

+1 , but if you put it back to 4×4 , you will need to match all 4 tyres !
