hi I`m new to this!
Got a 51 plate td5, have noticed that there seems to be no power in 1st,2nd,3rd gear, not building up speed.Once up and running for about 10 mins it runs fine, if i go to shop then switch back on it seems to have all power and run ok.New fuel filter fitted but it feels like a fuel problem??

Any ideas as what it could be, i`m stumped! dont know much about cars:doh:

thanks in advance

You sure this is not just related to warming up of the engine?

Right after U've started it is it nervous enough?(I mean out of gear)
can U push it up to 4000rpm easy?........if U can do that I'd say it's not a fuelling issue............ do that just for short time as to not rack the engine

when starting car up i leave it idle for about 5 mins before moving off. Will try revving to 4000, tho problem is not constant only happens periodically.

Thanks for advice so far:cool:

The best U can do is to plug it into o tester..........just to be sure the're not the injectors at issue.........and could be the well known "ECU plug oil contamination" thing also.............dig in forums about it.

Depends when he gets it to 4k .. revving when off load does nothing but prove it can rev when off load ... My old series could rev it's balls off at a standstill but couldn't pull any revs when running .. Fuel pick-up was crudded up .. So long as he can get it to 4k+ when under load, say driving up a hill, then I'd agree, not a fuelling issue. ;)

I'd suggest checking all the air inlet pipes for breaks and crudding up inside ..;)

Thanks to all for your advice, going to get the air flow meter checked out, then take it from there :5bcheers2:
