Hi all,

Parked my 110 TD5 up the other day only recently bought it, starts and runs fine but now it won’t select gears. I can move the gearstick into where the gears would be but no movement or grinding as if it’s even near going into gear. It’s like the clutch plate is stuck and not releasing. I was going to change both clutch cylinders on my to do list anyway but I guess I’ll try that and see if any different. It’s had an upgraded box fitted to it I believe off the disco? With a longer 5th. Seeing if anyone’s has similar? Thanks in advance!

Thank mate this has sorted it, I’ve rewired all the centre console as it was a mess so I just have knocked it putting the gearstick trims back in, thanks your quick help appreciates it 👍🏽

Look at that transmission .... doesn't it make your mouth water ?
I've come over all weak kneed and jealous.

The gearbox (R380) on a disco is the same as in a defender. You can get specially rebuilt/refurbished gearboxes with a 'V8' 5th gear. Winchester Gears and Ashcroft offer this service.
The LT230 (transfer box) is different on a discovery in that it has a raised gear ratio. Typically this is 1.2:1 on a disco and 1.4:1 on a defender.
You can tell which ratio the 230 has by looking at the serial number.

Don't drive around with your diff lock engaged (on) when on tarmac etc or you will damage the LT230

Yes it’s beautiful, much better know it’s working 😆😂 or now the person using it is working 😂

But it is good to "exercise" the high/low diff lock function now and then to keep them from seizing. You never know it may snow sometime even if you do not go off road. Do it on loose surface of grass or gravel.
