Hi guys,

I've been out with friends in their Landrovers a few times and have enjoyed it enough to want to buy my own! I've been reading around the topic and came across this site. Not only do you all seem to have a lot of fun, but there's a lot of knowledge here :)
I'm really looking forward to learning a lot so I know what's the best vehicle to buy. ............I'm sure you will all have an opinion for me :D

Welcome. Best vehicle to buy really depends on what you want out of it and the kind of use you'll give it, and budget.

Theres a lot of us down here, good showing in Herts.

What to buy? depends on what you Want!

Will it be your everyday vehicle, or a weekend toy?

Do you want a modern vehicle or an older classic?

Are you interested in greenlaning? Off Road days? Trialling?

There are plenty of LR and 4x4 clubs full of folk who will gladly help you out all over the country.

The world of the green oval is full of wonderful choices.

Oh yes

:welcome2:

WELCOME!

Just let LZ know what you think ;) you'd like and then we can all stand around with much scratching of chins and sharp intakes of breath through closed teeth :D :D

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is an awful lot of choices, some I hadn't thought of and some I hadn't heard of - what is trialing?
Vehicle wise, I spose something that doesn't matter too much if I dent or break it

From the Wiltshire / Hampshire border hi and welcome. As I say to anybody looking at a new car, take someone with you who is very level headed and doesn't get wrapped up in the excitement. Hope you find a good one soon.

Trialing is a competition, where the driver has to tackle a number of sections layed out accross difficult terrain and see how far they can get without picking up a penalty.

For off roading then the Defender 90 or older series motors are best as they really are like lego/meccano so if you damage the body work, ou just unbolt the old and bolt on a new bit. :)

Old Discovery's usually referred to as 200 or 300 Tdi are good vehicles, cheap to buy and very capable, but more involved to fix and are prone to serious hidden rust that can cause a headache at MOT time, especially if you do not weld
