indeed, as I thought too

however 2 have had this problem cured by replacing the fuse?? so was worth a look??

Not if it's intermittent. Blown fuse is a hard fault. I had that when a couple of plugs were down. Changed them it went away. But can't see how the ECU would know that. More likely a dirty connection from ECU to relay or an earthing problem in relay pull circuit.

do you have to take the pump of to do it or can it be done in situ ? the link is for a vw is that the right on that i need

no you just take the top off 4 bolts, then 2 tiny torx screws that's it

(will be easier if you remove the inlet manifold though)

The engine temperature sensor that is located under the manifold at about no 5 cyl will affect cold starts and idle when cold could be worth replacing and try again

just had it on diagnostic and fuel temp was 50.8 c is this normal

Hardly unless the engine was hot. You want to be looking at it just after start up from cold it should be near ambient then rise. If it's more than that then you have a problem.

it had been ticking over for a short while and temp was between quarter and half on the gauge and it rose to 69.5 after a 30 min run at 50 mph and the gauge was at it normal position at half way

If it shows ambient after cold start then rises all should be ok. The fuel is constantly cycled through the system so depending on how much there is in the tank it will get warmed on a long run. It should never get anything like as hot as the engine though.

Sorry to open an old thread but Fingers crossed I may be getting a replacement FIP in the next few weeks was going to rebuild it could could anyone point me in the right direction to the parts needed please:D
