Mystery flat tyre - solved!

I recently had a flat tyre for no apparent reason on my D2, although when pumping it back up I did notice that the valve was on a bit of a "hair trigger", any nudge and it would let air out. When again checking pressures yesterday, the valve didn't want to seal - oh dear, change wheel? Nope, the valve was loose inside the housing. One tyre valve extraction tool for a couple of quid later and it's fixed. :clap2:

Well done ................ but I'd have thought that a Landy owner of your experience you'd have had at least one of those little 4 way jobbies tucked away in every pocket, wallet and toolbox!

glad you found it, but I don't think I would have left a valve "with a hair trigger, any nudge and the air came back out"

glad you found it and it was an easy fix though

Tyre valve remover can be easily made with a 4" nail n a hacksaw ;0)

No but I do have a few of the Tamiya 4-way spanners you get with their radio-controlled vehicles !

Optimus, the valve does have a dust cap on to prevent unwelcome nudges...EDIT - I managed to initially tighten the valve with that spike you get on a multitool for getting stones out of horses' hooves.. to be honest, I only remembered about the fact that the valves screw in and out on the day that I went and bought the extraction tool
Until that point, I'd been resigning myself to checking and possibly re-inflating the tyre until I could visit a tyre place at the weekend.

Jonny - I kind of wanted the valve to remain intact thus saving me cash and hardship

If I had a £1 for every valve I have screwed in and out over the years, I`d have enough to buy a, errr, new tyre ?
still got my little tin of once tyre patches came in, its filled with both new landie thick type tubeless valve stems, and pre used tyre valves, new and old dust caps and 2 or 3 different types of screw tools, oh, just remembered, 2 valve extentions used in double wheels (why do i keep them??)
I used this tin way back in my banger racing days that started in the early 1970`s..
i`ve also got a simular tin full of webber jets & various other carburettor type jets to include scooter carb jets aswell.
