Hello everyone. I have had this series a long time and its blow a hole in a cylinder and broken a rod. Its a 2.25 diesel.

I use it as my daily, i don't go that far just into town and around the countryside roads.

Do you think i should rebuild the engine or swap it out for something else?

The 200's seem a lot of money and i don't know what else to really put in it. If i rebuilt the 2.25 would it be a fairly reliable engine for what i do?

Thanks for any advice

G'day louder6pounder, that engine has done you well so far so could find another one to rebuild. I have swapped out before for other ones over the years. I guess in my experience if you think of a 200tdi to swap it with then I would rather put a 300tdi in. Depends if you want deisel or petrol. Also if you want to spend money changing difs and gearboxes. You can get adapter bell housing to fit most engines onto those boxes. Also depends on if you want high ratio diffs or if it's got them already. All comes down to money and what's available.
