Mechanics in Maidenhead, Berkshire

Hi, I bought my P38 2001 3 weeks ago and am very much enjoying the experience, so have a few questions, hopefully easy ones.

1. I wanted to get the EAS cable and software, searched the forum and got from Datatek, thanks to him and the search function.
2. I am looking for a mechanic around the Maidenhead area or Berkshire area where I can get the P38 looked after, also in a few months time I get a Series 3 as well which needs looking after.
3. Whats the best tyres to get for on-road use and for occasional grass conditions, never real off road.
4. LPG, is it really worth it and could anyone recommend a supplier, the P38 I have is a 4.6, my annual mileage is 10 - 15 thousand and I will do two trips to spain this year as well.

Wet grass is probably the most slippery surface this side of black ice! Most road biased tyres will struggle. What you want is off road tyres that are good on the road. General Grabber ATs or Toyo Open Country ATs are examples of such tyres.

Felipe what do you need doing to it? if its just a service, oil filters etc, its an easy job to do, if you get stuck on anything and need help, I'm not too far away from you (Heathrow)

I also have a SII so there not worlds apart, and same thing if you need a hand

Hi if you looking for mechanics nr Maidenhead i would recomend Nick Kerner 4x4 Nr Winkfield Bracknell they helped me out and I found them to be very helpful and proffesional.

1. Well done!
2. Goodyer 4x4 in Coleshill are a very highly regarded Land Rover mechanic, I use them and they are reasonably priced too. Only about 30 minutes from you (A404, M40, off at Beaconsfield, they are on the A355 to Amersham)
3. A decent set of A/T tyres should do the trick; BF Goodrich A/T's are the defacto A/T tyre, but cheaper ones are available. My boss fitted a replica tyre made by Events and other than a slight 'humming' at 70-80mph, they're very good and half the price. If you want cheaper still, try Insa Turbo Rangers, which are a good remould tyre with a similar tread pattern.
4. If you are keeping the car for 2-3 years I'd say go for it, over 30k miles you should see you money back. On my LPG'd Classic I get an equivalent 24-25mpg in mixed use, compared to a genuine 14mpg on petrol. You should see better than this on your car, around 18mpg on petrol and an equivalent 28-30mpg on LPG. Make sure you get a decent multi-point injection kit fitted by a reputable fitter - it makes a lot of difference!
