maf help

hi people i just like to no if the maf is my prob
i put the hawkeye on and noticesd that the maf is only reading 29 and 30 at idle
i unpluged it and ran without it the problem is its missing and it dos so with it plugged in or not so is the maf the fault
the car was missing befor i started
plz help me :doh:

ok been out in the disco and the power at the bottom end is not very good at all its ok as soon as you get the revs up but till the it dont feal right at all
the maf is still unpluged
things i have done to try to fix the prob is

new fuel reg
cleand fuel pump out
new injector harness
cleand turbo intorcooler out
turbo still bostting 1.4 bar
new fuel filtel and filled with injector cleaner and went for good run
cleand map sensor out

this as been going on for weeks now and is getting worse as time gos on and its worse in a morning till it gets warm then its not a bad i a have a hawkeye if any one know what i miite look for next
if i rev to about 3000 revs then let off i get like a poping (missing sort of sound ) then its like it drops a sylinder off
(its done the droping of sylinder bit for as long as i have had it ) so think this may be normal

if its unplugged would it make no diff or should it ?
mine is not with it unplugged
and its reading only 30 at aidal thats y i unpugged it
also had new fule reg it not be the faulty temp sensor would it dos any one what the reading is from cold ?

Only experience ive had with mafs is...... drove like ****, drove better unplugged but still ****..... new maf drove great

ok am going to get i new one at the weekend this will be the second in 6 months
the last on was the cheep sort from poddocks but not this time they say they have genuine one at poddocks £59+vat

maf reading should be in the heigh 50s at idle raising as you rev the engine but there are many bad things said about cheap air flow meters (looks like you are finding out) and some of them are reconditiond but they are made to trick the ecu into thinking every thing is ok you also need to look at the wiring as it passes over the air con pump as it can get damaged
an i ran for a bit without the maf connected and it ran ok but the mpg when well down (low 20s)

P.S i have used sutton auto factors maf sensors before on other cars with no problems might be wort a try but depending how much they are still consider the genuine part(seing you are from mansfield i am sure you know where they are)

Before you buy, look on Ebay for glowplugman1. He sells genuine MAF sensors. Bought mine 18 mths ago and still going strong.

Ok people got new maf and still got the prob
put the hawkeye And the maf is working good
To try and give a bit more info to what going on it's should like to much power being taken out the car like as if u was to keep turning heaters on and of that's what it sounds like any help will be great thanks
