Hey, am looking at possibility of getting a respray done on a '99 TD5..

Is currently a sand / silver colour but looking to get it sprayed black.
Obviously would like a good job done but dont really want to pay through the nose if I dont have to... Just wondered if anyone had any contacts out there...
I live in central Scotland, willing to travel a bit but not too far if I can help it..
Any help appreciated.

Cheers

you dont want too much then:cool:

going from a light colour to dark is gonna be a pain as you will have to do all yr door/bonnet shuts or it will look **** everytime you open a door

my advice fwiw dont bother

Unless you want to do all the prep work yourself, to the point of where all the interior is out, and it's a rolling (empty) shell at the spray shop, with all the prep on the panels done, I'm afraid you probably will have to.

As said, it'll look appalling if it's a half arsed exterior only job.

It's a big car, and you'll need both outside and inside doing if it's to be done properly. That's alot of paint, alot of wortk in removing all the interior, and alot of panels to prep.

I have a very good spray contact if you (or anyone else ) needs one - but expect it to cost, and its down South :)

I know a couple of guys doing this stuff near Eyemouth, Scottish Borders. One is a panel beater/sprayer during the day and they do this stuff at night for themselves. If you want I can give you a number on a PM. I have the phone number of his landlord who would give you their number.

As has been said it would be more cost effective to sell it and buy a black one.If every thing is not removed and taken down to a bare shell it will look a pigs ear and be hard to sell when the time comes.Just to give you some idea if I was to do it it would have to be a bare shell and the costs - primer £50,Paint £50, anti bloom thinners £30,Standard thinners for cleaning the gun £20.Thats £150 without the cost of wet and dry paper panel wipe etc then there is the cost of my prepperation time and thats the most important thing to a good spray job then the time to spray it up and finnish it off.
If It was me I would put standard alloys on it and sell it and buy a java black one and dont forget I can do all the work to take it to a bare shell and spray it up myself.

Cheers for that guys, some amusing replies.. admitedly the alloys are a touch bling, not the reason I bought it though.. have spent a while looking for one in black, viewed 6 in total.. but nothing as clean as this, full LR history ,low miles, and the guy gave me a good trade in price for my car.. not many willing to give much for an 05 Vectra Sri with 80+k so..
Was bought as a work vehicle to tow my Climbing Wall about, company logo's and graphics getting applied which is why I want it black.. although a bit of 'drug dealing could generate some extra income..
Anyway probably just go for a Vinyl Wrap as quotes coming in from about 2 and 1/2 up to 5 or 6 so far..
Cheers for the replies..
