Just been sorting out the caravan and have been talking about the land rover
shows.

Just noticed that the LRO show has been moved from East of England
Showground, to Three Counties Showground, Malvern....August bank holiday
weekend. What is the showground like? Is Eastnor on this year and does
anyone have any more dates for any of the other shows this year?

Malvern is a beautiful old showground, on a flat bit surrounded by the
Malvern Hills.

3 counties, from what I remember, is quite large and has large sheds.

I'm all in favour of having it there, much more central. EoE is a bloody
long way from this side of the country.

The 3 Counties is abit like EoE (Large sheds, lots of open space etc),
apart from it aint got an ovel track in the middle. Best thing for me is
it's about 30 mins away!!.

There's some odd things going on with shows this year. The LRO Show
was scheduled for the East of England Showground, but they seem to
have fell out with the organisers, Live Promotions or summat.

However, the same weekend is now the 4x4 Show, promoted by Live
Promotions, same place East of England Showground...

I understand that LRO Spring Adventure - still run by Live Promotions
(?) is still on, which if anything like last year will be a very good
show.

August Bank Holiday is the New, New LRO Show, but we'll be going to
the Town and Country Festival at Stoneleigh as it's not just Landies -
which by the end of the season is smashing as we've almost had enough
of the Green Oval by them.

We'll be doing Peterborough, 4x4 Show or whatever though. We've never
done an All Marques 4x4 Show so it should be rather fun (I'm not
really too bothered with the 'if it aint a Landie it aint a proper
4x4' mantra, choice an all that, besides, I reckon Grumble will hold
ground against almost any other "4x4" :)

Some shows, including LRW Eastnor dates here: www.101fc.net

I only wondered about Eastnor being on as its only about 10 miles away from
the Three Counties Show Ground. I'm not sure that its a good weekend to be
driving in that direction though, especially on the Friday. Its thee
weekend that everyone wants to get away for before the kids go back to
school.

Just had a look on the website for the one at Gaydon at the end of April.
Is the price for the camping £15 per night or for the 3 nights?

Just found an envelope behind the hall cupboard with details and booking
forms for LRO Spring Adventure May 14/15 at Driffield, also "NEW" Land
Rover Fest Off Road Show, 10/11 Sept at East Of England Showground, and The
4x4 Show 24/25 Sept at Stonleigh. There was also a letter from Live
Promotions, explaining that Emap was running their own event over a
different weekend. The leaflet sounds like its pretty much the same as the
LRO thing but without Land Rover Owner International. Camping is available
from the Friday and campers can stay until Monday. There is a website
http://www.landroverfest.com for anyone interested.

My understanding is that this is for the three nights.

From what I've read, it's a flat fee of £15 whether you stay one
night, two nights, or all three. Of course I could have
mis-interpreted - wouldn't be the first time ;o)

Question is, is the Gaydon show big enough to require more than a day
to get a good look at everything, and make all those "essential"
purchases? I've not been before, so don't know what's there. The web
site doesn't really give any indication of that.

I'd have considered staying just one night to get the two day entrance
price, but not if I've got to pay £15 extra!

What have you guys done previously?

Gaydon is more of an event rather than just a show. We like it
becuase we get to meet up with old faces, moan about what's broken and
drive from the Land Rover factory then drive back to the Heritage
Motor Centre... It may all seem a little sad I guess, compared to
shows like Billing, but then I reckon that's why we like it :)

Last year was a rather special event, see:

Which reminds me... Ted???

Dam it I thought those piccys had gone away ;-) ... but it does raise a
point... will Morph get there painted or otherwise... time will tell.

Martyn.. I know I was a bit slow on the return ( I anticipated a bar coded
form - manual processing takes longer ;-) ) but could you let me know if I'm
paid up officially as I've a wish list of Parts for Morph which will be
essential before any long trips. Nowt landed in the post recently.

While I've been R & R'ing up t'lakes Mother D has been at the rear seat
covers and the rear forard facing seat with belts / side facing seats /
double bed with apholstry are in - progress at last!!!
