L322 L322 2007 4.2 SC Gearbox problems

Hi there,

I'm looking for advice for my L322. I have lost 4th,5th & 6th. I can drive the car manually in 1,2 & 3 but it wont go into 4th or above. If I'm coasting it will go into the higher gears in D but as soon as you put load on it goes into limp mode transmission fault limited gears and puts it into 3rd. I've put it through my HawkEye Total scanner and have the fault codes: P0730 Incorrect Gear Ratio, P0735 Gear 5 Incorrect Ratio & P0783 3-4 Shift. Signal compare failure. I changed the gearbox oil and sump/filter 2 years ago and raised the car recently to see if the oil was low and it wasn't (with the engine running)
Can anyone give advice, from what I've read the rear stator bushes wear and solenoids fail but I'm open to suggestions. If I could I'd rather fix the issues than have a recon box fitted if it's viable.

Does sound like a worn rear stator bush. You could remove the mechatronic unit and apply air pressure to the E clutch and see if it leaks badly.

Thanks for the reply Phil. I will have a look and report back. Do you have sources for the stator bushes if that's what's needed?

I'm not sure how easy the bushes are to source individually, but you can certainly get hold of a full transmission kit of OEM bushes for around £65 (for example : https://www.onestopgearboxshop.com/bmw-zf-oe-6hp26-automatic-transmission-gearbox-bush-kit-14-pieces)
