Is it worth putting induction kit on 4.6 v8

Well cats are a load of ****.:D

Can't disagree with that. Anything the government says you have to have that produces more CO2 than without them, then charge you for producing more CO2 has to be scam. But unfortunatly the law does state they HAVE to be fitted, **** as you put it, or not.

Hi, ive got a 4.6 v8 range rover, and after a bit more power, ive decatted it, and got an rpi stainless exhaust so far.
Would an induction kit/ performance air filter improve performance or make it breathe a bit easier, or will it make it run more lean and risk cracking head/block more? Forgot to mention its on lpg, and spends most its life on lpg, just run it on petrol when putting the foot down! Sam
So is the LPG system single or multipoint ?

As "cats" become older... do they degrade i.e. the vehicle decats itself or do they block up, i.e become more restrictive.. anyone know?

Cats are restrictive by their nature. That is why vehicles run better without them. Yes they do degrade, clog and become detached within their casing.

the injection system gem stands for
generic engine managment.
it is a self learning adptive injection system which adts to the engine improve the air flow entering and exiting and it will adjust the fuel as required.
chipping a v8 is faulse economey i never chip a p38a as it will adpt quite well rather spend more time and customers money on increasing the mechanical bhp cam and performance heads.
i have a customer 4.6p38a gems spec i recently fitted one of my recon top hat linner blocks a piper cam and some mid valve heads and he already had a chip fitted i removed it and it goes better on the standard ecu chip

i'd be interested in hearing a bit more about that. did you happen to take pics?

Lol, i got it cheap anyway, as my dads in motor trade and took it as a px, with full lr service history and only 95k miles. Some daft people are paying 4k for p38s in worse condition and twice as many miles on ebay, I paid half that, Sam

Good on yer Sam. I did a lot of modifying when i was younger it was fun at the time i suppose. But you get older and wiser. Even moderate power gains come at high cost. Large power gains come at VERY high cost. It's a bit easier now than it was, with engines being electronically controlled. When it was done by mechanical modification alone it was a lot harder and a whole lot more skillful.:):):)

get some nitrous into it,that will liven the fooker up,how much power do you want,i like to drive mine responsibly and not threaten or intimidate other road users.

I dont drive stupid in it, and keep my heavy foot to my gt4 really, and on the track, but would maybe like to bring back any lost power, and maybe add another 10bhp at most, just unlock a bit of potential, and make it breathe a bit better, not after stupid power, as range rovers arent made to be fast, its just everyday work transport. I will never make any money through modifying cars, i understand this, but its my hobby and i find it fun., I doubt i will ever grow out of it, but yeah will definately get wiser, Sam

if you only want that sort of power. then decent plugs leads filter and exhaust will sort it.
