Has any one been lucky enough to find an insurance company that dosent use a mask and flintlock pistol as a sales pitch.Just got my quote for this year £568 for fully comp,no claims protected[7 years] with limited mileage of 3000,thats over £150 more than last year:eek: what did I do wrong? and to add insult to injury have been quoted over £1600, i'm 47 for christs sake not 18.If any one has been blessed with a decent insurer please let me know.

7 years ncb
****ty poscode
31 yo
foreign license
440 per year
sureterm direct
forget the website give them a call
and fight
good luck

Insurance chiefs in the UK are jealous of the bankers bonuses, they want the same. Only way to do it is follow the example of the banks and start ripping off the public.

I seem to be one of the few people who I know who managed to get it to come down this year. My renewal through elephant was increased despite an extra years no claims. However I managed to find it cheaper through Adrian Flux. Call them direct and tell them you are with 'pistonheads website' - although its just another car user forum, they class it as being an owners club and gave me 15% off their initial quote for that alone, then dropped a bit more after a bit of negotiation. Result mine went down from £750 to £660 (I'm only 28 and have 2 years NCD).

First of all phone your existing insurer and tell them that if they expect to keep your business then you expect a proper quote. That might be all that you have to do.

If not get on your computer, forget the comparison sites they're all a rip-off. Take a night off from here and start filling in quote forms. If you want a slightly lazy way do; Admiral, Elephant, Diamond and Bell. They're all the same company so the forms are identical but they all ask for your best offer, then beat it !! I started with a renewal offer from Admiral of over £1,100 (multiple cars inc. my Rangie) and ended up back with them, paying £740, same as last year. Four online forms then a phone call.

:D

I've always had good quotes from the price comparison sites to be honest, embarrassingly i'm now with... of all people...

sheilas wheels! :eek::eek::eek:

I pay £320 for myself, 33 with 5 years NCB and my missus 28 also with 5 years NCB. Admittedly thats in a quiet postcode though.

I always use more then one price comparison site and compare the prices from there, always worked out good for me.

I've ALWAYS beaten the price comparison sites. If only by phoning the companies with the best offers on the sites. Their staff know that they have to pay the comparison site a fee if you buy through them so there's always a bit more to be had if you go direct.

Had a 3.9 LPG Classic 1993 up until January this year (more on this in a min) and that was around the £360 mark, 33yo, Good p/code, 9 years NCB (protected), Fully Comp with a 33yo Girlfriend who has 3 points SP30.

Unfortunatly some light fingered s*d nicked it in January and then proceeded to write it off for me - how kind..!!!

Looking at another P38 (had 2 previous 4.6's) only this time a 2.5 diesel either a DT Auto or a DSE Auto - Prices coming in around the £540-£600 mark (details as above only with the theft recorded obviously).

Seems like a bit of jump considering my NCB is protected, but what can you do?? you have to be insured and the companies know it....over a barrell me thinks.

I'll have to give that a try next time I renew, suppose its just plain laziness that I just click and buy!

just done mine with Swift cover

9 years NCD
47 years old and got the wife covered to drive it as well
protected no claims, legal cover, windscreen cover
£200.00 excess
And they were one of the very few who don't consider the LPG a performance mod so no extra cost

£314.23 fully comp

Like Hawaii, I found Swift were quite cheap. I ended up going with Aviva but did have to take a hit on the excess - they all seem to be loading this.

Ended up with premium of £314 but with a £350 excess. My opening renewal from Direct Line was £580 - up from £340 the previous year with no changes. 9 years ncd, full licience, all good.

Got offered a few deals but be careful as some insurers will casually omit cover like protected ncd or not covering if kept on the road overnight. I also had one company up the excess to £1000 when trying to get the premium down but conviniently didn't mention it. My f**king trucks only worth about £1500 on good day!

Most are robbing b@stards!

As usual my renewal was much more than last year so I just went on the meerkat comparison site. Got a much cheaper quote from Admiral. Foned my company up and told them and they matched it. Have to do this every year - why can't they just give me a sensible quote in the first place? They should know by now that I never settle for their renewal quote.

Auto insurance would not go up as much if people didn't file false claims. people like goonarmy do that type of stuff

True, but I'm not at all sure the latest increases are anything to do with that - they just seem to be trying it on - supported by the fact that they seem to be able to price match when challenged - suggests they're padding the quotes in the first place.

What you got going over there are the lawyer's doing the no fee if you don't win on auto accidents.

Here in the states it cost for Gill and I on 2 a suv4x4 and my pick up 61 no claims and no tickets since 1970 (thats right) is $2,400 a year.Thats everyting and a 500$ we pay first:eek::eek::eek::eek:

So moving to the UK would save $2000 a year:D
