Instrument Cluster illumination lights failed

The Mileage is also logged in the BCU and the Lighting Control Module of all places I believe.

Doubt the removal of relays etc would cause this....

Could be a loose connection in the cluster or wiring thereto...

here are the other hidden menus

i never knew all that was in there, i am not sure i am brave enough to check the stored vin matches my chassis vin in case i find out its really a fiat panda or something..

i will have a look in the rear near side panel to check for water ingress and the connectors behind the clocks

i've also emailed the company that rebuilt the clocks for me to see if they only test the lcd or all the lights
cheers

You sure the new ones don't need coding ?!

Pretty sure they do need it as the cars mileage and VIN is stored within its memory

If they are set at zero they don't need re coding, the LCM stores all the info and installs it if the instrument panels memory is blank

thanks, that would make sense, i emailed the company that did the lcd for me and they only check the lcd not the complete clocks.
where would i find the LCM and could it cause the problems i am having if it had poor connections?
i am tempted to remove the cluster tonight and take it back for testing at the company that did the lcd for me to get them checked

I'm pretty sure the Lcm is in the drivers footwell behind the A panel but I doubt a poor connection would give you the symptoms that you have ( although anything seems possible with these beasts!) I'd start by getting the instrument panel tested as its simple to remove. Then work back from there if need be.

well i have some very good news, i took your advice and decided to pull out the instrument panel as i thought i could get it checked tomorrow and either get it repaired at the place that did the lcd or buy a refurbed one off egay.

i checked all the connections on the back and all the pins looked good so i tried connecting it back up again, tuned on the ignition and it lit up like a frickin Christmas tree. my indicator lights and ticking is back and the high beam

i have had them out before and never had any of the lights i have now so i wonder if its the order i connected them back up in or just luck.

also the headlights stay on if i turn off the ignition with them on and it displays something in the lcd panel about light delay or something which it has never done before.

i'm not sure its perfect as i dont have a handbrake light which i would have thought i would have done but at least i can drive at night now.

and best of all i dont have any warning lights that stay on after the engine is running

i'll also run the allcomms to see if i have any faults now that will clear

ive posted the test of my clocks that v8saint showed me on youtube, just because i can

L322 2004 instrument test - YouTube

anyway thanks all again, gearbox oil and filter next, stand by:crazy_driver:

The Headlamp delay is normal behaviour...

Turn off ignition with HL still on, turn lamps to off and they will remain illuminated for 30seconds before going off...to cancel this just turn the lamp switch on then off again...

All it must have been is a iffy connection which you have made good by removing and remaking the connections...!

they sure are fussy little feckers, i am trying to find your 'how to' for changing the gearbox fluid, how much do i need if i am doing an oil and filter change on the 4.4?

Posting a P38 problem on and L322 thread is not going to elicit much response, start a new thread.
You need to download RAVE from Wammers EAS thread in the "How To" section and look at the wiring diagrams. But for starters it could be the ignition switch or the under bonnet fuse box.
