Hi all my freelander 1 as a really high pitch noise and not sure if coming from the rear diff as last year my propshaft locked up and tuck my rear diff mounts out and my transfer box out,
my hubby and my self put in a second hand in very good condition transfer box in and refilled oil and left the prop off as it's buggered so is in two wheel drive.
New clutch fitted 2 years ago so I know that's fine.
Does anyone know what the noise might be i my self think I have also broken the rear diff could this be possible and if so how can I check,
also now have a thudding on drivers side front end I am thinking a shock as broke hope some one can help me out thank you

you thud on the front end could be a couple of things one it could be your wishbone especially if you have hit a deep pot hole or it could be the drop link but I would not expect a thud from it or you suspension which ever it needs to be looked at to determine what it is.

The engine lower tie bar is under greater load now it's running 2WD. This will show up any softness in the large bush.
