Welcome to LZ - IMHO you got the best Freelander - L Series. Can't believe you can pick up road worthy (I presume!) Freelanders for £200. I've been hunting for ages to pick up a cheap one here and the best I could get was an insurance write-off, de-registered 1.8 for £500.

Is it 4WD? Does it have the props going to the back axle? If it is still 4WD, make sure you understand how it works - ie the importance of matching tyres and checking the Viscous Coupling (VCU).

Hi thank you for the welcome
It's in good nick really he originally wanted £350 but it wouldn't start so quick spray of wd40 in the ignition and it fired up straight away
It has a few issues I am getting through slowly . It's 2wd as rear prob been removed and the TC light is on but found it was due to a broken wire so resoldered it back on and light has gone off only other issues I have is its got a slight leak for the core plug at back of engine when under pressure but ordered new plug will Fit it at weekend
And the other issue is when I put my foot down hard it's chucking some black smoke out I pulled the maf plug out while it was running and there was no change and no change when I plugged it back in so I'm wondering if it's this causing the problem I'm not to well up on freelanders I had a series 3 for a long time
Give it a good scrub at weekend and it's looking quite good
