Nobody asked for this, but it might be useful. I'm gathering parts for a DIY disc handbrake conversion. I need to make a mounting bracket for the caliper I've chosen, so I measured the bolt pattern that attaches the handbrake backing plate to the LT230 transfer box. The centre hole is 98mm diameter and the four bolt holes are 10mm dia on a 118mm PCD. The attached file is a .dwg file - if you need something free to open it with, Draftsight is made by Dassault Systemes (i.e. it's good) and is properly free and very capable. One thing I'm not sure of yet is exactly where vertical is - the way I've drawn it, the pattern is oriented approximately right. Certainly all of the holes are in the right place relative to one another. Anyway, hope it's useful to someone at some point!

I keep wanting to make one of these. Looked at X-Eng and suchlike but can't afford them. My main problem has been getting a reasonably priced cable operated caliper, the rest is just 'engineering'. When I get time I'll probably make one, but no promises when .. :)

I'm using a Mondeo Mk3 rear caliper - the handbrake is cable operated. It cost me the princely sum of £15 from the local yard, complete with pads and in good order. Quite big, but will fit.

Hi @thetim

How did you get on with this conversion?

I am just about to look at doing a DIY conversion soon.
