Help!!! Newbie with a possible fault...

Hi All,
ive recently bought a 1995 v8 disco, Today ive been playing in the snow, whilst pulling a friend out i locked it in 4wd low range(diff lock) and the rear o/s wheel didnt spin at all, the other three did???
got back home and tried normal selection and sometimes it spins and times it don't Any idea's??????

center diff lock and not axle diff locks as standard

Thanks for the quick response, i thought they were 4wd constant, does the power split to wheels as needed(sorry for sounding or coming across dumb, just dont understand the 4wd system!!!)

yes it splits the power, but unless you have front and rear diff locker fitted as well-will spin up if a wheel at front and rear have no grip.
