Ahh i see. Maybe i should cut my jibber jabbering and buy me a haynes manual and man up and give stuff a go. At the end of the day i have most of the tools required from my line of work. I think i may keep the freelander i have a and tinker with it and give it something to complain about. Hey maybe it will be nice to me in the end so i leave it alone.

On another but sort of linked note, and I will look for a thread containg in forum, but i know i need a new exhaust as the baffles are rattling in the mid section. Is this a straight forward job. A good place to start maybe????

For your mid silencer rattle go down to a Power Flow center and ask them to fit a strait through box in it's place. I've got the same rattle so will be fitting a stainless box instead like this one.

As mentioned by far the best way to look after you Freelander is the diy way ;)

Not sure what u mean DD3. By checking the forums, i was relating the fitting a new exhaust. I have taken on board the answered questions and am going to give it a chance and see if i can sort some of these issues myself. I very much appreciate all advice given. And have already looked into the advice on a straight through eggsauce, as it is now know. I have just paid out near to a grand on repairs. I want to get what i can out of her. The only real problems are the rattle and also i have some judder on the prop, only very slight, Once i can get round these i am sure as has been said. I will be into more of the niggles than the majors. FINGERS CROSSED.

Thank you for all your posotive feedbacks all and i if nothing else look like i am in the right place for sound and very realistic advice.

Bare in mind the Haynes does not covered the V6 engine but all the rest of it is fine :). Got some real V6 gurus here though so don't worry.

I took the question to be, should I cut and run now?! Most advice you see on enthusiasts forums, especially this one is supportive of the object to the point of being defensive. The way you framed your original question was as if you had already realised that with limited knowledge, this car could be a money pit. Some of us agreed with you I found this to be refreshingly honest of us. I wish you all the best with your Freelander and you will get loads of help in keeping it going from this forum:)

Just pick up bits as and when you can. To be honest these days the Freelander is more of a "kit car" - you gets the basic bits when you buy it and then spend months rebuilding it !

But it's worth it, and you'll belong to a very small club of people with reasonably trouble free Hippo's.

Yeh didn't say I was chairman of the club that's for damn sure .

It's snowing like buggery here and mine is still down in wales. I actually lay awake worrying about it until 4am last night, it's getting stupid how much I want that car back.

DD is really busy at the moment though we were going to go down today but he had a last minute thing to do. Can't complain it's a huge favour to ask :).

Tempted to go down myself and just put it back to PRT and mech pump though, just to get it back :(.

Sewing is for girls, sowing is for farmers.

Well we thought that it couldn't hurt to have one last ditch attempt at getting it back online and if it works then I can get my money back on the other parts :). It's all up in the air and it's literally driving me bonkers. I'm so frustrated :(.

Well you have put alot into the project, so can understand u want to give it one more try. Changed my PRT at weekend and now heater is not so great - must be air in it - why is nothing simple on these bleddy things :)

Just keep burping the the heater outlet every time you shut down you'll get it :).

When the coolant is hot and under pressure, probably easiest with the engine idling just don't scald youself :).

It should not take that many "burpings" to get the air out.

This is exactly how I see Freelander ownership having just completed an engine change to prove it ;)

Tx Will. I have good coolant flow and everything else seems to be as should be - so this is typical Freelander wierd!

There's a bit of an art to bleeding a K series, I've done it half a dozen times now with all the mods to my cooling, you get the hang of it.
