Morning everyone,

First job whenever getting a new car is to find the best forum for future help and advice, so here I am..

Collecting a 2001 Vogue from London tomorrow afternoon and I can't wait for the long drive back to Manchester in pure luxury!

Got the car booked in next week for an LPG conversion using a BRC multi point system. Car only has 58k on the clock so fingers crossed its as mint as it looks. Will start scanning the forum to learn all about the car as I'm no mechanic but love Land Rovers.

I've had a Disco 1, Disco 3, Subaru Forester (for 3 months) and now back to Land Rover. Its in my blood now i think as the Subaru was faultless but just didn't feel right so it's gone.

Forum looks like great and busy which is always a good sign. Cheers.
 
I have every confidence that I'll make it home - to start with. Fingers crossed.

Got to complete my HPI check before i complete the deal so that the HPI guarantee kicks in just in case, so I have to ring them with the V5 document number VIN and engine number. Other than the windscreen/engine bay plaques, any advice advice on where to double check the VIN and where is the engine number please?

:welcome2: Enjoy the trip home. You've got as nearly new as possible, and low mileage so you probably stand as good a chance as anyone for a blissfull relationship with your P38. LPG conversion will also soften the blow but don't expect running costs of a nissan micra!!

Congratulations. Mine's a Dec 2000 4.6 with about 58k and I had a BRC multipoint sequential system fitted to it a couple years ago and it's excellent.

welcome to the mad house let the games begin, I hope you enjoy your trip back but dont to to dissapointed when the gremlins creep in they always do even on the best of them but lets hope on a very good one not to many probs.

Cheers everyone. You're a happy confidence sapping bunch! Still it wouldn't be a Landy nevermind a P38 without some little quirks. We'll see.....
 
Regardless of milage, its still a 9/10 year old car and if it still has the original air bags it is well overdue some new ones.Same goes for the O rings in the valve block and the heater matrix.Maybee worth checking any service receipts to see if any of these have been done.Dont be put off by negative comments,you are most welcome,just try and give as much back to the forum as you take.
 
Enjoy, I loved my 2002 vogue, didn't really have any problems in 3 years and 40k miles, only just sold it, sometimes wish I hadn't!

Steady you will put the fear of hell into him anyway in 5 yrs on lpg have done 105k and only one engine change and that was the flexplate that let go and I got a brand new full engine from a stealer for 1500 quid go for it and enjoy and welcome by the way
 
wellcome goodfella from a fellow manc i have a 2000 4.6 v8 vogue with 83k on the clock it has a multipoint lpg system installed 18 mths ago ..i love this motor dream to drive and touching wood in perfect condition in every way ,, keep yours well serviced on both petrol and lpg and it will reward you everytime .. if you want info on cheapest lpg in m/cr and service place for lpg just P.M. me and will give you details ,also good priced place for spares etc .. once again wellcome to the site its a great place for the crack but you have to put up with the **** take , as you live in salford you will know what i mean especially if your a red he he he , but most of the lads are a great bunch and are very efficient with there advice cheers for now happy rr driving good luck mozz

The only petrol engines I like have 4 cylinders and rev out at 10K or so, never liked V8's, I had one once, installed a Chevy small block in a Ford van, used the scare the holy **** out Jag drivers away from the lights, left foot on the brake, stall the torque convertor, slip foot off brake, 20 yards of tyre marks and plenty of smoke:eek:
I just prefer diesels.
As for giving the newby hope, I was just being realistic, no point in giving false hope:D:D:D
 
False hope well placed!

Picked it up and had 200 miles of trouble free, luxury and I was well pleased UNTIL I started braking on the elip road near home and ping ping ping the ABS and Traction fault lights both came on! My heart sank and was brought back down from my blue sky.

Also some grinding type noise so I'm guessing maybe the brakes overheated or something I don't know.......got it home and I've left it a while to see if it resets itself (wishful thinking). Otherwise, I'll be ringing the mechanic tomorrow as I don't know where to start diagnosing.

Its mint though and was loving it until that :(
 
See Moz, I was just being realistic. No good to give folk false hopes only for them to be let down. Better to make it sound like a disaster zone, then when it's just a little problem like a grinding noise with TC and ABS lights on the man is happy.:p:rolleyes::p:rolleyes::p
 
Happy?? Erm...not at the moment as it hasn't reset!:(

I might do something technical and disconnect the battery to see if that clears it! Or maybe something just needs fixing - already. Bummer. Knowing my luck the emergency radio code I have in the book will be the wrong one..
